Committee of the international council of amsports Tennis
Today tennis is one of the most popular sports that is of interest to people of all ages and professions, brings unmatched benefits to the soul and body. In addition, tennis allows you to form such qualities as will, discipline, steadfastness, because sports always change people for the better, and tennis is more than a sport, it is the credo of a successful, purposeful person.
This sport has a long and very interesting history, rooted in ancient times. Yes, yes, you were not mistaken, it was then that people came up with an exciting game with a ball, beaten with sticks.
The first tennis balls were made from leather pouches stuffed with any improvised, soft material. Years passed, the game attracted an increasing number of people, but in the Middle Ages, which became such a difficult moment for all mankind, full of wars and coups, the game began to forget: people were not interested.
About the idea of the ancients remembered only a few, this knowledge was preserved by the monks, who later, in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, used this game as emotional relaxation and training of attention, dexterity, endurance, strength. To the masses, tennis returned only in the second half of the XIX century.
Today it is difficult to say who actually was the organizer of this idea, but in the encyclopedias there was the name of Walton Wingfield, who was the first to patented the game. Gradually, tennis acquired the shape of a serious sport, and not just interesting fun, as it was before. In 1873, clear rules are created that operate within the framework of international tournaments.
History of tennis tournaments
The first official international championship was held four years after the registration of tennis as a sport. In 1877 in the English town of Wimbledon there were major competitions, headed by the Wimbledon Tennis Club. From this moment a new chapter in the history of the big tennis begins: the rules of the game are fixed, the main tournaments are formed, the special places are chosen for the location of those or other championships.
